Marinna - Your host in Ghana

I work for SASK as the Regional Coordinator for West Africa responsible for SASK’s field activities in the region. I monitor the implementation of SASK’s programme and projects in 12 countries in West Africa (Ghana, Benin, Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Senegal, Niger, Burkina Faso, Togo, Cote d’Ivoire and DRC). Ghana is a key country for SASK as most of the activities and projects of SASK West Africa are in Ghana.

I come from Ghana, and live in Accra where SASK’s West Africa Regional office is based. I have an extensive working experience with trade unions in West Africa particularly in Ghana where I have worked for almost 11 years with the Ghana Trades Union Congress (TUC) as a gender officer, researcher and international relations officer.

Right now, Ghanaians are keenly waiting for the 29th day of August 2013 when the Supreme Court will announce its verdict regarding the 2012 presidential election petition raised by the NPP against the NDC and the Electoral Commission. Some people are wary of what the outcome of the judgment will be and there have been peace crusades in recent times as has always been the case during election years. But we strongly believe that Ghana will remain in one peace after the August 29 judgment.

The weather is good (24 - 28°C) in Accra as we are in August. I welcome you all to Ghana, a land rich in culture and sunshine. Ghanaians have a reputation for friendliness, so go ahead and experience it.
